Funeral service for Lois Baggett Russell will be held Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Ron Leonard officiating. Burial will be at Jones Chapel Church of God Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Russell, 93, of Meridian passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was the church treasurer for First Church of God of Meridian for many years. She was a longtime employee of Newell Paper Company, of which she had many fond memories. Although she had no children of her own, she was like a second mother to her nieces and nephews, who will miss her deeply. And she came to be called Mom by her step-children.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Gary Busby (Sandra), Lynn Watson (Randall), Charlotte Cermak, Rozelle Hughes, Loretta Hoffer (Keith), Steve Hughes (Betty), Judy McDonald (Jerry); step-children, Eva Layden, Ivy Phillips (Charles), Delores Phillips (Jack), and Margaret Trombley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Russell; parents, Wesley and Mary Baggett; siblings, Theo Baggett (Florine), Lorene Coleman, Dorothy Hughes (Garner), Lavern Baggett; nephews, Mike Hughes and Kenneth Baggett (Gail); niece, Mary Busby, and step-son, Harry "Buddy" Russell (Ann).
