Funeral services for Lois Smith will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Clarke-Venable Baptist Church with Reverend Nathan Stamper, her grandson, officiating. Burial will follow at Newton County Memorial Garden with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Smith, age 82, of Decatur passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at her residence.

Lois graduated from Newton County Agricultural High School and East Central Junior College. She retired from The Newton Company as their office manager and was a member of Clarke-Venable Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, George A. Smith; daughters, Shelia Stamper (Richard) and Brenda Harper (Benjamin); son, Stuart Smith (Michaelle) all of Decatur; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and sisters, Earline Ware of Hattiesburg and Bobbie Matthews of Moorhead.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Sarah Turner and a sister, Helen Richards.

Memorials may be made to Clarke-Venable Baptist Church or The Gideons International.

Pallbearers will be Stuart Smith, Matthew Smith, Cameron Harper, Marcus Smith, Cade Hoggard and Chuck Glover.
