Funeral services for Loletia Cooper Soule’ will be held Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 1p.m. at Central Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Blair officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Loletia Cooper Soule’ passed away on August 17th at age 96 in Foley, Alabama where she had lived for the past several years with her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Helen Soule’. She was born in Meridian, MS December 22, 1919 to Fancher and Jessie Waldrup Cooper. She lived in Meridian until she attended MS Southern College in Hattiesburg.  On September 4th, 1939, she married Bobby Soule in Meridian. After living there for 6 years, they moved to Gulfport where Mr. Soule’ owned and operated a flight school and they remained there for the next fifty years.

Loletia was a faithful and active member of Handsboro Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS. She and her husband returned to live in Meridian in 1999 where she became a member of Central Baptist Church. She was an accomplished storyteller, cook and a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her daughter Jessica Soule’ Harney and her siblings Jesse Cooper, Martha McMillan and Deanie O'Neill.

In addition to her son and daughter-in-law, Loletia is survived by her daughter Letia Soule Henson of Atlanta, GA, her grandchildren Connie Henson of Southfield, MI, John Henson of Atlanta, GA, Tricia Soule’ LaBiche and husband Steven of Meridian, MS, Nichole Soule’ and husband Andy Nix of Memphis, TN. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Matthew and Jessica Morris, Maurice LaBiche III, Mary Gara and Gray Nix as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Loletia was best known for her real-life stories, her happy disposition, and her faith in God. She loved life and was so much fun to be with. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Friday, August 18, from 5-7 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home and Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum (AKA Soule’ Live Steam Museum) P O Box 5031, Meridian, MS 39302 or to Central Baptist Church of Meridian.
