Loren L. Banes, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Loren L. Banes, Jr. will be held Monday, June 18, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Dr. Michael Bird and Bro. Bill Webb officiating. Interment will be held at Pine Grove Church Cemetery in the Martin Community. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Banes, age 77, of Meridian passed away June 16, 2018 at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Banes was a talented electrician. He worked for thirty plus years for Woodall Electric. Mr. Banes mentored and trained many young apprentices and had a great impact on their lives. He was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting, sailing, finding peace and quiet in the woods, and spending time with family and friends. He was a gentleman who exhibited all of the fruits of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23. Mr. Banes is adored by his wife, mother, daughters and sons-in-love, grandchildren, siblings-in-love, and his nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Ethridge Banes; mother, Polly Banes; daughters, Lorie (Ernie) Sloan and Dana (Steve) Tillman; grandchildren, Jonathan Sloan, Isaac Tillman, Elijah Tillman, and Jaycee Sloan; siblings-in-love, Michael (Joy) Ethridge and Terrie (Walter) Ridinger; nieces and nephews, Kyle (Jessica) Ethridge, Caleb (Sidney) Ethridge, Deidre (Brian) Johnson, Drew (Brittany) Ridinger, Erin Johnson, and Anna Kathryn Ridinger; five great-nephews; and two great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, Loren L. Banes, Sr. and one brother, Billy Banes.

The family requests donations be made to the Gideon’s International.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Ethridge, Caleb Ethridge, Drew Ridinger, Jonathan Sloan, Isaac Tillman, and Elijah Tillman. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the IBEW Retiree Club and the many apprentices that he taught.
