Funeral services for Mrs. Loretta Ann Carney Carter will begin at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Causeyville Baptist Church with Reverend Gilbert Eaves officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Robert Barham Family funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Mrs. Carter, 71, of Causeyville, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Loretta had a green thumb and loved gardening and growing plants of all types. She was a Proverbs 31 woman who loved reading her Bible and spending countless hours in The Word. She loved her family and enjoyed being in their presence at any occasion and looked for any opportunity to fill her home with them. Family was her pride and joy, She especially enjoyed being with her grand and great-grandchildren, who she told many tall tales to. Mrs. Carter loved playing dominos weekly with her family and anyone who would join. She was also a lover of music of all types. In her spare time she enjoyed camping and fishing on the Tombigbee River with family and friends. Mrs. Loretta was a stay at home mom and only took on outside work once she raised her children. She took pride in her home and cooking for all who entered; if you left hungry it was your own fault. She was currently writing her own book in her spare time about The Pathway, and the End Times.
Mrs. Loretta is survived by her children James Edward Carter (Erica), Rebecca Ann Moffett (Glenn), Billie Jo Graham (Kenneth). Grandchildren, Steven Carter Williams (Sarah Ann), Jessica Danielle Chancelor (Ancil), Emily Brooke Quinn (Brandon), and Travis Brandon Williams. Great-grandchildren, Presley Ann Quinn, John Carter Williams, Maven Brooke Quinn, and Deacon Joe Chancelor and one on the way. Brothers, Rufus Carney (Linda), and Ellis Carney, Jr. as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family whom she doted on.
Mrs. Carter is preceded in death by her husband Billy Edward Carter; parents, Ellis and Geneva Carney; one sister Shirley Cochran-Cranford.
The family requests memorials be made as donations to The Gideons International in lieu of flowers.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Quinn, Ancil Chancelor, Dennis Ray Cochran, Austin Cochran, William Daniel Carney, Chris Carney, Daniel Wade Carney, and Adam Carney.

The Carter family will receive friends from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at the funeral home, Friday, June 19, 2020. Mrs. Carter will also lie in repose, at Causeyville Baptist Church, 30 minutes prior to funeral rites. The funeral home is currently operating at 50% capacity and is allowing up to 100 guests indoors at one time. Facial coverings are required to attend services.
