Lorraine Darnell Irby

Private graveside services for Mrs. Lorraine Darnell Irby will be Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Kemper County with the Reverend David Hopkins officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Irby, 91, of Meridian passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at The Christa House of Meridian.

Mrs. Lorraine worked at BellSouth and Marks Rothnburg. Mrs. Lorraine married Everett Irby and they opened Irby’s Optical in 1967. After 30 years of serving her community at Irby’s Optical she retired and in 1997 went to work part time at Rush Foundation Medical Hospital. Mrs. Irby was the smiling face you encountered if you ever had to endure Rush ICU waiting room. For 23 years she was the smiling face that greeted you during this time and was always there to lean a helping hand. Mrs. Irby not only loved and adored her family but loved and adored her Rush family as well. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church for many, many years where she was involved with her Sunday School class and served as an Outreach Leader.

Lorraine Irby is survived by one daughter Wanda Irby Clay (Bill), two granddaughters Denia Barrier (Brooks) and Tana Causey  (Scott), 4 great grandchildren Courtney Barrier, Bella Barrier, Liam Causey and Sollis Causey, one sister Virginia Bounds, as well as  many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Everett Irby (husband), John Thomas Darnell and Larena Wilson Darnell (parents), Dewayne Darnell (brother), Rainie Causey (great granddaughter).
