Funeral services for Lottie Dearman will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at 11:00am at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Reverend Chuck Overby, Reverend Robert Null, and Reverend Sephus Garrett officiating. Burial will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mrs. Dearman, age 96, of Collinsville passed away Friday, April 6, 2018, at The Oaks Rehabilitation Center.
In Mrs. Dearman’s words, “My greatest accomplishment in life was raising my children and being happy with my kids and my old man, Ben. My greatest inspiration in life was when my husband returned from war. It gave me great faith. One thing I’ve learned in life and wish to pass on to others is the love for family. I want my family to remember me as trying to do my best in life.”
Survivors include her children, Harvey A. Atkinson, Sr. (Peggy), Laverne Neville Atkinson (Charles), Linda Atkinson Ward (Jack), Johnny L. Atkinson (Robbie), Stephanie Atkinson Washburn (Derik), and Felicia Atkinson Chisolm (Bryant); and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Benjamin A. Atkinson; second husband, Clifton C. Dearman; sons, Everett Eugene Atkinson and Raymond E. Atkinson; mother, Nettie Jerusalem Cooley Tucker; father, Thomas Tucker; and eight brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Mike Knowlton, Derik Washburn, Anthony Jennings, Mitchell Slade Thompson, Bryant Chisolm, Jr., Tim Tucker, and Harvey Atkinson, Jr., and Edward P. Bartlett, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bryant Chisolm, Sr., Edward P. Bartlett, Sr., Jessie Tucker, Jr., and Jack Ward.
