Graveside service for M.J. Taylor will be held Friday, April 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton County with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Taylor, 95, of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Veterans Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Master Sgt. Taylor served in World War II. He retired after twenty-three years from the 5 th Armored Division with the United States Army as a Master Sgt. Specialist 7. After retirement he taught ROTC at Washington High School in Denver, Colorado until his second retirement.

Survivors include his nieces, Peggy Wells and husband Thomas of Sherwood, Arkansas and Annis Rainer and husband Ricky of Newton, Mississippi; son-in-law, Dan Garner of Bailey, Colorado; sister-in-law, Jean Griffis of Marion, Mississippi; numerous other nieces and nephews and cousin, John Robert Taylor of Mobile, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary W. Taylor; daughter, Debbie Taylor Garner and parents, Barney and Annis Brock Taylor.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
