Margaret B. Knight Services for Margaret B. Knight will be held Monday, March 21, 2011, at 1:00p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Greg Massey and Dr. Gary Blair officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Knight, age 83, of Meridian died Friday, March 18, 2011 at Rush Hospital. Margaret was the youngest of nine children of Howard and Cannie Butler. After high school she worked as a seamtress at Burnley Shirt Factory. She loved music and sang with her two sisters on a radio program on WCOC radio in Meridian. Following WWII, she married her childhood sweetheart, Chestine Knight in 1946 and was a full-time mom until her two children were out of school. She later worked as a desk clerk at Best Western of Meridian and thoroughly enjoyed her time there. Margaret was an active member of Central Baptist Church in Meridian, a member of the Bell South Telephone Pioneers and enjoyed attending the XYZ fellowship at Central United Methodist church. She was an avid fan of Southern Gospel Music and traveled extensively to attend gospel concerts with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a wonderful Christian wife and mother who loved her family with all her heart. She leaves a legacy of strong faith in God, a great work ethic and a quick wit. She will be sorely missed. Survivors include her son, Langford Knight and his wife Shirley, of Toomsuba, her daughter, Sharon Kay, of Lawrence, MS, her grandsons, Chris Knight and his wife Kim, of Collinsville, Jeff Knight, of Nashville, TN, her sister, Louise Stewart, of Meridian, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Chestine Knight. The family requests memorials be made to Central Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Charles Gibson, Tom Butler, James Jenkins, Preston Pearson, Chris Knight and Jeff Knight. Honorary pallbearer is Jerry Taylor.
