Margaret Bates Mccay

Services for Margaret Bates McCay will be held on Monday, August 29th, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Baptist Church, with Dr. Carl White officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 28th, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.

Margaret was 64 years old when she passed away at her home on Friday, August 26th, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 28th, 1951 in Mobile, AL, but has been a resident of Meridian most of her life. She was a 1969 graduate of Meridian High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi, later graduating from Meridian Junior College, in the business and office program. Margaret retired from EMEPA after 21 years of dedicated service as executive secretary. She was a faithful member of Highland Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry McCay; children, Stacy Branton Yalacki of Gulf Breeze, FL, Melissa “Missy” Branton Murray (Justin) of Laurel, MS, Justin Branton of Meridian, MS, Courtney McCay Hooker (Brad Hooker) of Tupelo, MS and Kelly McCay Richburg of Tupelo, MS; grandchildren, Bryce Yalacki, Carter Yalacki, Weston Gay, Sloane Krick, Ali Murray, Emma Kate Murray, Jack Murray, Avery Kate Hooker, Hayes Hooker, Madison Richburg, Sadie Richburg, and Posey Richburg; sister, Jackie Bates Slay (Ronnie) and family of Meridian, MS; brother, Harry Bates (Kay) and family of Philadelphia, MS.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Eudora (“Dodie”) Bates, and brother, Thomas Edwin Bates.

Pallbearers will be David Jones, Sam Roy, Bobby Green, Kevin Glasgow, Robert Delk, and Dr. Willie Greer.
