Margie Smith Freeman

Funeral services for Margie Smith Freeman will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church, with Rev. John Branning officiating. Burial will be at Egger Cemetery in Caledonia, Mississippi, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Freeman, age 97, of Meridian passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Margie graduated from Caledonia High School and attended Wood Junior College and Mississippi State College for Women. She was an active member of Central United Methodist Church, the Shields Circle of United Methodist Women, an active participant of Lunch Bunch, and Central’s Senior Adults’ Ministry. She was also a member of the Round Table Literary Club of Merrehope and a member of NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association).

Survivors include: her son, Carey Freeman (Barbara) of Poquoson, Virginia; daughters, Diane Reynolds of Meridian and Kathy Stumpf (Rick) of Asheville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Kimberly Edgar of Pensacola, Florida, Craig Freeman (Sunny) of Poquoson, Virginia, and Kelly Elmore (Aaron Bilger) of Alpharetta, Georgia; great grandchildren, Emily Freeman, Jami Zettler, Livy Elmore, Holly Freeman, and Jonny Ray Edgar; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly C. Freeman; sons, Ray Kelly Freeman and Phillip Smith Freeman; son-in-law, Jerry Reynolds; parents, Clarence Smith and Tennie Honnell Smith; and sisters, Lovie Beasley and Alva Southerland.

The family request memorials be made to Central United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be Harlan Davis, Terry Winstead, Ross Surles, Bruce Brown, and Ken Davis.
