Marie Harper

A graveside service for Marie Harper will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Mount Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Scott Harrell and Bro. Joey Shelton officiating, burial to follow. A visitation will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.

Mrs. Marie Harper, age 100, of Meridian passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025, at home.

Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to her family and all who knew her. She had a nurturing spirit to care for all that came through her open doors. She loved prepared meals and special treats to spoil those near and dear to her. After raising her sons, she continued to share her love for children by becoming an assistant teacher at Southeast Elementary.

Upon her retirement she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and tending to her garden and flowers. In her later years, she was blessed with four great-grandchildren whom she loved spending time with and spoiling whenever possible. She will be deeply missed by her family and all that knew her.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Cathy Harper; granddaughters, Karen Dieckmann (Drew), Katie Fulton (Jacob), great-grandchildren, Thomas Dieckmann, Killian Fulton, Mary Dieckmann, and Carter Fulton; sisters, Jean Harbour and Kaye Boles (Eugene); numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Harper; sons, Benjamin "Buddy" Harper and Roger Keith Harper; siblings, Robert "Snookie" Pierce, Louise Harper, Infant Nancy Pierce, Raymond "Dickie" Pierce, Infant Roy Pierce, Mildred White, Mollie Shelton, and Ann Ethridge.

Pallbearers will be Craig Suttles, Purvis Shelton, John E. Ethridge, Jr., John E. Ethridge, III, Bobby Renfrow, and Ronald Moore.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Harper and Harold Harper.
