Funeral services for Mr. Marion R. “Billy” Anders, Jr. will begin at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Cory Phillips officiating. Service music will be provided by Mr. David Benson and Mrs. Claire Hanschke. The Anders Family will receive guests from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM prior to funeral rites in the chapel. Entombment will follow graveside rites at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Anders, 90, of Meridian, died Friday, April 3, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness.
Born March 11, 1936 in Meridian, MS to Marion Riley “Bilbo” Anders, Sr. and Louise Morgan Anders, Billy was a graduate of Meridian High School. He went on to East Mississippi Community College where he played both baseball and football. He went on to graduate from Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in business.
Billy began his furniture career with his father in the family grocery business. The Anders Family went on to establish Anders Furniture in the mid 1960’s. Billy worked in the family business, which was in continuous operation for 60 years, until his retirement at age 87. Billy was active in numerous civic and professional organizations, including serving as a Past President of North Meridian Optimist Club; a member of Easy Street Investment Club, and a member of Northwood Country Club, where he thoroughly enjoyed playing golf. A Christian by faith, Billy grew up at East End Methodist Church and was currently a member of Covenant Global Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Anders; children, Cindy Anders Colvin (Ronnie), David Anders, Jason Anders, Donna Ahlrich (Paul), and Diane Freeman (J.B.); his grandchildren, Matthew Colvin (Susan), Heather Anders, Emily Pearson (Douglas), Hillary Goins (Ken), Bradley Anders, Graham Ahlrich (Ivy), Nolan Ahlrich (Bess), Carley Hudnall (Harper), Jami Overton (Luke), Tripp Freeman (Ansley), and Maggie Freeman; ten great-grandchildren; his brother Wayne Anders (Lynda); his sister, Jimmie Wells; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Mr. Anders is preceded in death by his parents, Bilbo and Louise Anders; and his brother-in-law, Jim Wells.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Colvin, Bradley Anders, Douglas Pearson, Graham Ahlrich, Nolan Ahlrich, Tripp Freeman, Harper Hudnall, and Luke Overton.
The Anders Family would like to express special thanks to Home Instead, Harper’s Hospice, and Jessica West for their exceptional care and love during Billy’s illness.
