Martha Elizabeth Barnett

A requiem eucharist (celebration of life) for Ms. Martha Barnett will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Reverend A. Austin McGehee Celebrating, and the Reverend Brian Ponder preaching the homily. The committal will follow at the church columbarium. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Ms. Martha Barnett, age 71, of Meridian died at home on Monday, October 10, 2022.

Martha was born May 6, 1951 in Philadelphia, Mississippi to the late Gladston and Birdye Barnett. She attended Delta State University for two years on a music scholarship before graduating from Mississippi State University with a degree in music. Although an MSU graduate, Martha was a die hard Ole Miss Rebel fan. She taught piano for many years in the public school systems of Kemper County, Union, and at Parkview Elementary in Meridian. Martha was long time member of her beloved St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she was instrumental in planning the annual music series, was a member of the choir, served on the vestry and numerous other committees, as well as prepared countless meals for bereaved families after funeral services.

Ms. Barnett is survived by her siblings, Glenda Russell (Bud), Ellen Gully (William), and James Barnett (Fran); her nieces and nephews, Stephen Russell, Gary Russell (Cheree), Paul Barnett (Heather), Jessica Barnett, Bill Gully (Marilyn), and Tracie Ingraham (Robert); and several great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be shared with St. Paul's Episcopal Church music program (choir) or altar guild.

A visitation will be held in All Saints' Hall at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 10:00 a.m. prior to the requiem eucharist.
