Martha Jean "Boots" Harry

Funeral services for Martha Jean “Boots” Harry will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at Briggs Chapel with Reverends Nick Holden, Mike Boles and Malcolm Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Briggs Chapel Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Harry, age 91, of Porterville and was currently residing at Brookdale in Meridian, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Specialty Hospital.

She was born on April 12, 1926 in Scooba, Mississippi. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Boots was a blessing to all who knew her and loved her. She loved her family and friends, but her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Boots loved playing the piano. She was a faithful Christian, who loved the Lord and always put Him first. Boots served and loved her church, Briggs Chapel.

Survivors include: son, Billy Harry, Jr. (Barbara); daughter, Jeanne Jones (Charlie); grandchildren, Dave Calvert, Billy Adam Calvert, Rusty Calvert, Felicity Harry, Paul Lampton, Chris Lampton, John Harry, Griff Jones and Missy Jones; great grandchildren, Jett Calvert, Briggs Calvert, Brett Calvert, Jeanne Claire Calvert, JayLee Calvert, Ruby Kate Calvert, Ashlyn Lampton, Ashton Lampton, Natalie Lampton, Reese Lampton, Lauren Lampton and Jordan Curtis; nieces, Ann Perkins, Pam Adams, JoLynn Cotton, Portia Pride, Telise Byrd, Mandy Chalk, Faye Mitchell and Linda Larkin; and devoted friends, Judy Petty and Peggy Reed.

She was preceded in death by: husband, Billy B. Harry, Sr.; parents, Fred and Versia Lavender; brothers, Freddie Clyde Lavender and Smitty Lavender; and sister, Hortense Pride.

Pallbearers will be: Greg Briggs, Bill Briggs, Aubie Harry, Martin Buchannan, Danny Simon, Tony McCullough, Mike Mitchell and John “Bud” Murray.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Robbie Jones, Charlie George Perkins, Jack Warbington, Dennis Harry, Danny Lipscomb, Junior Briggs, Herman Stegall, Lee Dial, Jim Dial, Ed Chinchar, Rusty Galloway and Mark Bedwell.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home and from 2:00-2:30 p.m. at Briggs Chapel.
