Martin Edward Dooley

A funeral service for Sonny Dooley will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Bro. David Tero and Bro. Roger Laird officiating. Burial to follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. Martin E. "Sonny" Dooley, Jr. age 86, passed away peacefully at his home in the Suqualena community surrounded by his family.

Sonny learned the value of hard work at a young age. He worked as a milkman at PET Dairy Products and eventually worked at General Box for 25 years, followed by 20 years at Lockheed Martin before retiring.

There is no question as to where he is today. Sonny loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was ready to go when the Lord called him home. He served as treasurer, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church since its inception and later served as a deacon, and Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Lorene Dooley; son, Martin E. "Marty" Dooley, III (Portia); grandchildren, Noah Dooley and Maurin Dooley (Nolan Grady); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents, Martin and Ruby Dooley; three brothers, Maurice Dooley, Ellis Dooley, and Charles Henry Dooley; three sisters, Gladys White, Ruth Sanders, and Annette Cagle.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to BEAMS Bible Distribution Ministry, P.O. Box 10200 Gulfport, MS 39505, in Sonny's memory.

Pallbearers will be Noah Dooley, Jeffery Dooley, Tommy Davis, Nolan Grady, Wayne Harris, and Brian Pierce.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 11, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
