Martin Cleveland White

Martin White, 79 of Meridian, MS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Northpointe Health & Rehab-Meridian. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.robertbarhamffh.com.

He was born on December 10, 1945 at Matty Hersee Hospital of Meridian to Grover Cleveland White and Wilda Grace White.

Martin served briefly in the U.S. Navy before beginning a lifelong career as a carpenter. He married Linda Hickerson and together they raised one daughter, to whom he devoted his life. Martin enjoyed fishing, watching westerns on television, reading, sipping on coffee and spending time with his family-especially at softball games.

Martin is survived by his daughter, Penny Allen (Brad); four grandchildren, Corey Allen (Irene), Brittney Wheat (Will), Christian McCall and Madilyn "Maddi" Allen; one great-grandson, Lucas "Luke" Wheat; one sister, Rose McDonald; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his parents Grover "Bud" and Grace White; three sisters, Helen Skinner, Clarice Chancellor and Louise Boyd; and two brothers, George White and James "Jim" White.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, where his ashes will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Martin White's account at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home to assist with funeral arrangements.
