Services for Mary Lucile Benson will be held Thursday, April 3, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Jerry Reed and Brother Jeremy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Benson, 89, of Meridian died Monday, March 31, 2014, at her home. She was retired from Bell South and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Mrs. Benson was a member of the Lost Gap Volunteer Fire Department, Parents Without Partners and she attended Lost Gap Independent Protestant Church.

Survivors include her son, James Ronald Smith of Meridian; grandson, Jeremy Smith and wife Felicia of Meridian; granddaughter, Leah Patano and husband Brad of Ocean Springs; great-grandchildren Jeremy Austin Smith, Landon Paul Patano, Anniston Riley Patano, Raychel Lanea Smith and Reagan Samuel Smith; sister, Eunice Fitzgerald; sister-in-law, Mable Starnes and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, John W. Starnes and Frank O. Starnes.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Smith, Jeremy Austin Smith, Brad Patano, Bubba Jones, Wayne Rhea and Ron Burton. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Hauser, Eric Jones and Gary Fitzgerald.
