Mary Elizabeth Cumbus Visitation for Mary Elizabeth Cumbus will be held at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home on Friday, August 14th from 5-7pm. On Saturday the 15th at 1030 there will be a funeral service at Jones Memorial Presbyterian with burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Alan Singletary officiating. Mrs. Cumbus, age 86, passed away on August 12th of 2015 at Anderson South Hospital in Meridian. Mary is survived by son Jerry and Patti Simmons of Empire Alabama; Claude and Wanda Simmons of Bend Oregon; Sister Ruth and Charles Naylor of Meridian Mississippi; Grandsons Sam Simmons of Boaz Alabama, Colin and Eric Simmons of Bend Oregon; Granddaughter April Kinney of Toomsuba Mississippi; Great-Grandsons Wyatt Simmons and Jonah Kinney of Toomsuba, Tavien Simmons of Bend Oregon; Great-Granddaughters Chloe Kinney and Harper Simmons of Toomsuba Alabama; Nieces Kay Severance of Marion Mississippi and Melanie Ward of Ocean Springs Mississippi and Nephew Charles Naylor Junior of Roswell Georgia and life long friend Sarah Lavender Choate. Mary was proceeded in death by her father Bryant Culpepper, Mother Alice Culpepper; Brothers Bryant and Sam Culpepper; Sister Eileen White, Husband Claude Bryant Simmons Senior, and John Frank Cumbus. Mary is a member of First Baptist Church and Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church. Mary was married to Claude Bryant Simmons Senior for 24 years and then to John Frank Cumbus for 32 years. Mary enjoyed crochet and knitting and collecting stained glass. Mary was a charismatic and energetic soul that was beloved by everyone and will be remembered and cherished in all our memories. May the lord keep and bless her. Pallbearers will be Ricky Simmons, Sam Simmons, Daniel Nester, Charles Naylor Junior, Colin Simmons, and Jonah Kinney. In lieu of flowers the family request donation to Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church. Friends may sign an online memorial at www.robertbarhamffh.com In her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed.
