Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Buntin Jeffares

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Buntin Jeffares will begin at 1:30 pm Friday, August 3, 2018 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Flynn and Dr. Tom Sikes officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mrs. Jeffares, 98, of Meridian, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Poplar Springs Nursing Center of Meridian.

Mrs. Jeffares was an avid gardener, especially growing camellias. Along with her husband, Jeff, they created several varieties of Camellia’s and toured the Southeast attending Camellia shows; many of which she served as judge for over 30 years. She worked at AT&T for 38 ½ years, holding various positions before retiring as a plant assigner. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers and the Mall Walker’s. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was a talented musician and enjoyed playing the organ and singing in church choirs.

She is survived by Michael Gibson (Danyell); Nieces, Barbara Bosarge (Bo), Kathleen Price (Joey), Betty Pool Whalen (Jim), Ida Ruth Moorehead, Damon Buntin King, and Gail Pool; Nephew, Sean Buntin. Extended family, Brian Bosarge (Laura), Renee Bosarge Ivy, Clay Landrum, Kevin Braswell (Leigh Ann), Jason Braswell (Ashley), Will Ivy, Kalen Bosarge Mayatt (Shayne), Haze Bosarge, Rylan and Bailey Brooke Mayatt, Ava Ivy, Anna Jane and Mary Michael Gibson, Will and Sully Landrum, Morgan, Nathan, Evan and Nora Braswell.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Francis “Jeff” Jeffares: brother, William Robert “Bob” Buntin; sisters, Frances Cook, Aline Oliver, and Nena Pool; nephew, Oliver Buntin and great nephew Brent Bosarge.

The family request memorials be made to the Palmer Home in lieu of flowers.

Pallbearers will be Burt Zeller, Nelson Hall, Brian Bosarge, Bo Bosarge, Shayne Mayatt, and Michael Gibson. Honorary Pallbearer Bubba Martin.
