Services for Mary Ellen Bartlett Germany will be held Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Raymon Leake and the Rev. David Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Germany, age 92, died Monday, December 12, 2016, at her home.


She was a member of First Baptist Church and a former member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church. She was a patron of the Meridian Symphony Orchestra, of the Meridian Community College Foundation, and of Stage 2.

Survivors include her son, Barry Germany of Meridian; her nieces, Donna McIntyre of Alexandria, Virginia and Deni Adkins of Scottsboro, Alabama; her great-nephew, Zachary Adkins of Scottsboro, Alabama; and her devoted caregiver, Donna Johnson of Meridian.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Germany; her son, Larry Germany; her parents, Samuel Franklin and Davine Norris Bartlett; and her siblings, Cecil Adkins, and Edgar, Ralph, Samuel, and Annelle Bartlett.

Pallbearers will be George Hill, Jonathan Hill, Benjamin Hill, Mike Covert, Markey Joiner, Evan Bishop, Nolan Hudson, and Joel Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. John McEachin, Dr. John Hicks, Dr. Randall Hicks, Dr. Ruba Barakat, and her sitters, Darnice Sims, Betty Coleman, Lois Crosby, Tresia Adams, Georgia Porter, and Andrea Brown.

The family requests that memorials be sent to First Baptist Church Music Fund or to Congregation Beth Israel.
