A memorial for the life of Mary Evon Baggett Hartfield will be celebrated Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Carl White officiating.  Family will greet friends from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Mrs. Hartfield, aged 66, of Toomsuba and originally from New Orleans, passed away on January 5, 2017.

Mary was a supportive wife, encouraging mother, treasured grandmother, and dedicated educator of 37 years.  She retired in 2008 having devoting nearly her entire career to serving children in special education.  She was an avid photographer who enjoyed opportunities to travel and meet people.  In retirement she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Charles Hartfield; son, Thomas Hartfield; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Daniels Hartfield; grandson, Andrew Hartfield; granddaughters, Bethany Hartfield and Grace Hartfield; and sisters, Clara Elizabeth Pierce and Virginia Worrill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oda Adams and Clifford Baggett; brother, Jerry Baggett; and nephew, James Pierce.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the School of Education at her alma mater, William Carey University (’71), are encouraged.
