Mary June Burris

Funeral services for Mary June Burris will be Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Lanier, Rev. Malcolm Lewis, and Rev. Rodney Bice officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Burris, age 81, of Meridian passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at her home.

F or 55 years, she served alongside her husband, Max, as a support and ministry partner, as he served as Minister of Music and later as Minister of Senior Adults. She was a long time member of Northcrest Baptist Church where she taught preschool Sunday School, was nursery coordinator and sang in the choir. Beyond her ministry with Max, for 39 years Mary June kept newborn babies in her home for working mothers.

Survivors include five children, son, Rev. Barry Burris (Linda) of Terry, daughter, Sheila Burris Garrett (Danny Ray) of Meridian, son, Rev. Myron Burris (Laura) of Nashville, TN, daughter, Tanya Burris Wright (Russell) of Meridian and daughter, Pamela Burris Bice (Rev. Rodney Bice) of Bardwell, Kentucky. Eighteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, siblings Norris Stokes of Phoenix, AZ, William Stokes of Clinton, TN, Jerry Stokes of Kingston, TN and Wanda Estes of Harriman, TN, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Max O. Burris and her parents Z William Stokes and Lena Lois Collins Stokes both of Anderson County, TN.

Pallbearers are Mrs. Burris’ grandsons, Seth Garrett, Aaron Garrett, Andrew Burris, Matthew Burris, Daniel Burris, Bradley Wright, Nathan Bice, Micah Bice and Caleb Bice

Mary June looked forward every year to packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child and the impact they had on children around the world. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
