Mary Martha "Martie" Butler

A service celebrating the life of Mrs. Mary Martha "Martie" Butler will begin at 2:00 PM Friday, April 5, 2024 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Scott Crenshaw officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Butler, 93, of Gulfport, MS, died March 31, 2024 at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian after a brief illness.

Martie, as she was affectionately known, was born June 17, 1930 in McDonald, PA. She enjoyed a long and rewarding career in nursing and was a faithful servant to, Our Lord, and her church. She was a loving mother and friend to many. She and her husband of over 65 years, Bill, were faithful to each other, showing others how to live and follow God in all that they did.

Mrs. Mary is survived by her children, Susan Thomas (Richard), Tom Butler (Susan), Laura Young (Bruce), and Camie Coker (Sam). Grandchildren, Richard Thomas, Paul Thomas, Jessie Campbell, Sarah Legner, Leanne Hall, Jennifer Lovell, Kelly Coker, Michael Coker, Matthew Butler, and Parker Butler; great-grandchildren, Will and Easton Campbell; Emma and Jack Legner; Luke and Jay Hall;  Savannah and Declan Lovell; Jillian and Robbie Eveland; Trent Thomas, Luna-Belle Butler, R.J. Roberts; and Annabella and Beckett Butler; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mrs. Butler is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Butler; parents, Gabriel and Mary Hastings; her sister, Jessie Elaine Foley; her brother, Thomas Lee Hastings; and one grandson, Scott Coker.

The Butler family suggests memorials be made as donations to Poplar Springs Nursing Center Activities Fund in lieu of flowers, at 6615 Poplar Springs Loop Meridian, MS 39305.
