Mary Elleine Mason

A funeral service for Ms. Mary Elleine Mason will be held Monday, December 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in Meridian, MS with Rev. John Robertson officiating. Private burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in West Point, Mississippi. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Ms. Mason was born on December 20, 1943 in Greenville, Mississippi and passed away on December 3, 2024 at Poplar Springs Nursing Center in Meridian.

Elleine was a 1962 graduate of Meridian High School, a 1966 graduate of Mississippi State College for Women, and received a Master of Education in 1975 from Mississippi State University. Throughout her long career, Elleine taught elementary school in Huntsville, AL, for the Department of Defense in Gressen, Germany, as well as at Poplar Springs Elementary in Meridian. She later served as a counselor in West Point, MS, Miami, FL, and Jackson, MS at the Chastain Middle School.

Elleine delighted in the bonds of friendship and treasured the moments spent with her beloved family, especially her nephews, who held a special place in her heart. She was an avid bridge player. She adored her corgis, who were her constant companions. Elleine was a dedicated caregiver to her parents in their later years. A devoted Christian, she was a member of the former Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson and a part of a women's Bible study group.

Ms. Mason is survived by her brother, Jerry Mason (Charlotte); her nephews, Michael Gordon Mason (Sara), Robert Stephen Mason (Leighton); and her great-nieces and nephews, Katherine Mims Mason, Robert Talmadge Mason, Margaret Love Mason, and Henry Gordon Mason.

Ms. Mason was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Miller Mason and Rowena Hight Mason.

The family will receive friends from 10:15 until 10:45 prior to the funeral service at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
