Funeral Services for Ms. Mary Sharp-Carpenter will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Owen officiating. Interment will follow at Briggs Chapel Cemetery in Porterville, MS, with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Mary Sharp-Carpenter passed away September 1, 2017 in Bowling Green, KY. Mary Ellen McCarty was born October 17, 1935 in Stringer, Mississippi and lived most of her life in Meridian. She was employed by Hooper Electronics in Meridian for nearly 30 years as a bookkeeper. She was a devoted member of College Park United Methodist Church and loved her church family.

Survivors include her children, Michael Sharp and Peggy Goforth, both of Bowling Green, KY. Grandchildren, Cara (Kenny) Mullen, of Bowling Green, KY and Adam (Tabitha) Goforth, of Auburn, KY. Great-grandchildren, Colton Mullen, of Bowling Green,  Kenzie Mullen, of Bowling Green, KY and Declan Goforth, of Auburn, KY. She is also survived by her brothers, Fred McCarty and Arthur (Barbara) McCarty of Stringer, Mississippi and sister, Frances Anderson, of Moss, Mississippi as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Leora McCarty, her first husband, B.E. "Gene" Sharp, her second husband, Grady Carpenter and son-in-law, Jim Goforth.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to College Park United Methodist Church 1103 Highway 19 North, Meridian, MS 39307.
