Mrs. Harrison, age 72, of Meridian, Mississippi passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

“Ginger” grew up in the Bonita United Methodist Church and it was there that she made her profession of faith in Christ. Because of that decision in her own words, “I am not afraid to die.”

Mrs. Harrison graduated Meridian High School in 1963. After graduating high school, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1966 from Mississippi State University; she also completed some graduate courses at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. Mrs. Harrison was a member of Cokers Chapel United Methodist Church. “Ginger” as she was affectionately known was a beloved person to her family and friends. She was especially special and dear to her spouse of fifty-four years. According to him, she was his “heart and soul” for those fifty-four years, and that will never change.

Ginger was a talented pianist and vocalist and enjoyed painting and ceramics. She was also a highly skilled teacher.

Mostly, she was a devoted mother to her sons, Andrew and Joseph. She loved them, and they knew it. Andrew and Joseph loved their mother and she knew they did. Ginger was idolized and adored by her boys.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-four years, Jimmy Harrison; sons James Andrew Harrison and Joseph Martin Harrison; brothers, Dan Hollingsworth of Ruston, Louisiana, Richard Hollingsworth of Meridian, Mississippi, and Jimmy Hollingsworth of Houston, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Marguerite Hollingsworth and several aunts and uncles.

The family requests memorials be made to the Mississippi Methodist Senior Services Sunday Fund at P.O. Box 1567, Tupelo, MS 38802-9915, or online at www.mss.org.
