It is with loving memories that we honor the passing of our always-loved Matt. There truly was no one like him—brilliant, one of a kind, and blessed with more passions than most.

Matt had an eclectic taste in music, though Phish always topped the list. If there was live music, chances are Matt was there. He loved good food, whether it came from a corner gas station or a five-star restaurant. He was a devoted sports fan following all of the Philadelphia sports teams. An avid movie lover who had probably seen more films than the rest of the family combined—and could quote nearly all of them by heart. He found wonder in everything in nature, but his favorite was using his telescope to capture photographs of the moon and stars. This, combined with his artistic ability, enabled him to create unique, surreal, and imaginative images.

Above all else, Matt cherished his family and friends. They were the center of his world, and the love he shared with them will remain his greatest legacy.

Matt spent his early years in Morristown, New Jersey, before moving to Voorhees, New Jersey, where he spent his teenage years. It was during his teens in Voorhees that he grew his signature full beard and long hair. He later made his home in Meridian, Mississippi, where he lived throughout his thirties and forties.

He leaves behind his father, Dr. Timothy Arnold; his mother, Jane Arnold; his sisters, Kristin Moorhouse (Bob), Jennifer Arnold, Jillian Arnold, and Kimberly Silcox (Rob); his nieces and nephew, Diamond Moorhouse, Chance Moorhouse (Kylee), and Giana Silcox; and his great-nephew and great-niece, Bobby and Evelyn Moorhouse.

Matt will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Matt's life will be held in September. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
