Funeral services for Mrs. Mavis Dean Chesney will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Dan Lanier officiating. Interment will follow in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery in Neshoba County with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Chesney, 83, of Collinsville, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018 at Covenant Care in Pensacola, FL.
Mrs. Mavis enjoyed cooking, especially for family. She loved being with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, as they affectionately called her Mamaw. She loved gospel music and watching numerous different pastors on television. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Meridian for over 30 years; she enjoyed attending church and faithfully serving.
She is survived by her son, Mitchell Chesney (Tina) of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Kim Ward (Jason), Jennifer Chesney, Aimee Spence (Josh), Michael Foley (Allison), Adam Foley, Ashley Foley and Matthew Foley (Cassie). Great-grandchildren, Ava Brown, Princeton Chesney, Emma Hollie, Anslee Ward, Adalyn Spence, Garrett Spence, Madison Spence, Isaac Foley, Raegan Foley. Two sisters, Colleen Stephens and Dora Ella Schultz (Wayne), as well as numerous wonderful nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Lamar Chesney; Parents, Commodore and Eris Dean; Brother, Leon Dean; and Sister, Lucille Hitt.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Schultz, William Hodges, Tommy Hitt, Josh Spence, Leonard Dean and Jason Ward.
