Robert Barham Family Funeral Home 6300 Hwy 39 North, Meridian, MS 39305 Services for Max O. Burris will be held Monday Evening, June 25th at 7:00 PM at Northcrest Baptist Church with the Reverends Dr. Danny Lanier and Dr. Malcolm Lewis officiating. A private family burial will be held in the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Rev. Max Burris, 78, of Meridian died Friday, June 22, 2012 at his home in Meridian. For the past 29 years he served as both Minister of Music and Associate Pastor to Senior Adults at Northcrest Baptist Church in Meridian. Prior to his service at Northcrest he served as Minister of Music at State Boulevard Baptist Church in Meridian and Liberty Baptist Church in DeKalb. He was also a part of the Mississippi Singing Churchmen, a professional Men's Choir and Orchestra made up of Ministers from all over the state. In addition to his service as Music and Senior Adult Ministers in the local church he was also a Branch Manager for Lance, Inc. A snack food company based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Max Burris served our country in the U S Air Force from 1952 to 1956 where he learned cryptography in Korea. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary June Stokes Burris. Five children, son, Rev. Barry Burris and wife Linda of Terry, daughter, Sheila Burris Garrett and husband Danny Ray of Meridian, son, Rev. Myron Burris and wife Laura of Conroe, Texas, daughter, Tanya Burris Wright and husband Russell of Meridian and daughter, Pamela Burris Bice and husband Rev. Rodney Bice of Bardwell, Kentucky. Seventeen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, his brother Larry Burris Sr. and his wife Suzanne of Mint Hill, N.C., and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. His parents Fred Titus Burris and Nealer Krozetta Clark Burris both of Albemarle, N.C, preceded him in death. Pallbearers will be: Kyle Covington, Kevin Hatcher, Ben Shirley, Jimmy Johnson, Dan Ward, Ronnie McDaniel, Shane Hegwood, and Todd Nosco. The family requests memorials be made to American Cancer Society or Northcrest Baptist Church Senior Adult Ministry. Visitation will be held Monday Evening from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Northcrest Baptist Church in Meridian, just prior to the 7:00 Celebration Service.
