The Entombment will follow at Hamrick Cemetery in Collinsville, Mississippi. Mazell Hitt Pittman Dees, 94, entered into eternal peace on Monday, January 19, 2015, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. Mazell was born on July 30, 1920, to the late John David and Winnie Hitt. After graduating from Collinsville High School in 1940, Mazell obtained employment over the next several years at The Neville, The Downtowner, and The Meridian Hotel. She and her late husband, Jack Pittman, decided to move to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi and they established Pitt's Pigs. Upon the sudden death of her husband, Mazell moved back to Meridian to be closer to her family. This move launched her sewing career where she sewed for the public and several department stores until she suffered a stroke in 2012 at the age of 91. In 1989, the Lord crossed her path with the late Vander Dees. The two fell in love and were married. They were very involved with the Hamasa Shrine, Freemasonry and the Eastern Star where they were honored to serve as Worthy Patron and Worth Matron for a couple of terms. Mazell enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening. Survivors of Mazell include her granddaughters Vanessa (Bruce) Roberts, Tamaria (David) Muirhead, Billie (David) Stephenson; grandson, Gary (Kelly) Mendus; great grandchildren, Gavin Mendus, Kiley Mendus, Kara Mendus, Morgan Gail Roberts, Matthew Muirhead, Logan Muirhead, Maggi Muirhead, Hannah Beth Stephenson, Thomas Stephenson, Lawson Stephenson and Emma Kate Stephenson; great-great grandchildren, Brooke Ocampo and River Roberts Griffith and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her spouses, Jack Pittman and Vander Dees; parents, John David and Winnie Hitt; daughters, Glenda Ashley, Sue Gail Weather, and son Gary Mendus; grandchildren, Paula Everette and Melinda Gail Weathers; great-grandson, Ben Roberts; siblings, Velma Jane Hitt, Ray Hitt, J.B.
