Melvin W. Burnett, Sr. Graveside services for Melvin W. Burnett, Sr. will be held Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 10:00 at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Burial will be in Forest Lawn cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Burnett, 87, of Meridian, died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at VA Nursing Home, Collins, MS. He was a retired Mail Carrier. Mr. Burnett was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, and Oakland Heights Methodist Church. He was an Army Veteran and served in WWII. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include his son, Melvin Burnett, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Meridian; grandchildren, Kelli Clearman and her husband, Kevin of Hattiesburg, Scott Burnett of Meridian; great-grandchildren, Katie Clearman of Hattiesburg; nieces, Carol Ann Arthur of Meridian and Sylvia Roberts of Meridian; nephews, Miller Griffin of Sturgis, MS and Maldon Griffin of Plantersville, MS; brother in law, Curtis Parker of Pulaski, MS. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn P. Burnett in 1997; son, Jerry Wayne Burnett; parents, G.W. Burnett and Clara S. Burnett; sisters, Lillian Griffin, Mabel Arthur and Irene Teer.
