Michael "Mike" Sides

Funeral services for Mr. Michael “Mike” Sides will begin at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Jack Kern officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Sides, 73, a lifelong resident of Meridian, passed away peacefully Friday, November 18, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was a Meridian High School Graduate and began his career in insurance shortly before beginning his career in automotive sales. He married his high school sweetheart and life-long friend, Kathy Sides Cornett, and together they raised two children, Jason and Casey. His career in sales excelled and he became a co-owner of Sunbelt Motors in the early 1980’s in Meridian. He also was a co-owner of The Carriage House and Sunbelt Motors in Louisville. However, his proudest title he carried was Pa Paw to his grandchildren, Madalyn and Carson. Mike was well known and liked by all who met him due to his playfulness, quick wit, and kind heart. He had a love for live music and supported many talented musicians whom he considered his close friends. Mike had a deep-rooted faith and love for Christ and kept Him first and foremost in his life.

Mike is survived by his children, Jason Sides (Tiffany) and Casey Sides; grandchildren Madalyn Rose Sanders and Carson Sides; siblings William Sides, Jimmy Sides (Lynda), and Patricia Reynolds (Dexter); Sister-in-law Hilda Boteler (Bob); and his dear friend Jana Sanders, as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Mr. Sides is preceded in death by his parents Mary Sue and Burton Sides; The mother of his children and wife of 25 years, Kathy Sides Cornett; his brother Tommy Sides; Close Friend, Chris Ethridge; and Sister-in-law, Faye Sides.

The Sides Family would like to express special thanks and heartfelt gratitude to Compasses Hospice especially, Quita Purnell for her compassionate care during his final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

The Sides family will receive guests from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the funeral home and one hour prior to funeral rites on Wednesday.
