Mildred Delores "Dee" Eakes

Memorial services for “Dee” Eakes will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Sageville Methodist Church with Bro. Dale Moore officiating.

Mrs. Eakes, age 81, of Meridian, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Dee was born in Stonewall, MS on February 26, 1945 to the late Aron and Mildred Jackson. She married the love of her life, Jesse Glynn Eakes, and together they owned and operated Flarity Furniture Store on Front Street in Meridian. Dee also worked at Rush Hospital and later at the Econolodge. Dee was an avid shopper and enjoyed various arts and crafts. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her son, Tom Eakes; her grandson, Carter Eakes; her great-granddaughter, Jade Eakes; and her sisters, Katy Jackson and Louise Lewis.

Dee was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Glynn Eakes; her son, David Lynn Aston; her parents, Aron Jesse Jackson and Mildred Louise Jackson; her brother, Aron Jackson; and her sister, Charlotte Vincent.

In accordance with her wishes, Dee’s remains were donated to help further medical research.
