Mr. Rawson, 84, of Meridian, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his children and family.
Mr. Rawson was a retired engineer with Illinois Central Railroad and also worked as a logger and farmer. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a World War II Veteran. Mr. Rawson was a man who loved life, loved to travel and loved people.
Survivors include his son, Stanley Rawson and his wife Debra of Meridian; daughters, Elaine Rawson Webb of Meridian and Barbara Rawson Jones and her husband D.L. of Meridian; grandchildren, Mandy Terry and her husband Keith; Shannon White and her husband Brent; Brandi Polizzi and her husband Tony and Lauren Webb; great-grandchildren, Mason and Anna Grace Terry; Justin, Raelee and Harley White; Logan and Rawson A. Polizzi; brother, Rufus A. Rawson of Meridian; sister, Ruth Wilkins of Meridian; brother, Jimmy Rawson and his wife Glenda of Meridian; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Majorie J.Rawson; grand-daughter, Leslie Lee Webb; parents, Ruth and Mae Rawson; brothers, H.L. Rawson and Billy Rawson; sisters, Allie Navaille and Nancy Coleman.
The family request memorials be made to Andrew Chapel Church Building Fund or for Milford E. “Bob” Rawson Scholarship Fund, MCC Foundation.
Pallbearers will be Tony Polizzi, Keith Terry, Bent White, Larry Dean, Mike Trawick, Ken Covington, Steve Gatlin, and James Rawson.Family and friends may sign online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, 5-8 at the funeral home.
