Murry E. Rogers Services for Murry E. Rogers will be held Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 1:00 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Charlie Rodriguez and Bill Yount officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Mr. Rogers 82, of Bailey, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Rush Foundation Hospital. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was born and reared in the Obadiah Community and loved both his community and country. He served his country in the Army in post WWII Japan and upon returning married his sweetheart Ruby J. Byrd. Shortly thereafter he established Rogers Service Station in Bailey, later adding Rogers & Son Fish Farm. He worked at both for over 50 years. Mr. Rogers was an elder and clerk of session at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church. He was also instrumental in establishing volunteer fire service in Lauderdale County and starting Bailey Volunteer Fire Department. He served as chief for over 25 years. He was a Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and Hamasa Shriners. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Ruby J. Rogers of Bailey; son, Kenny Rogers of Bailey; daughter, Kay Poole and her husband Tim of Bailey; grandchildren, Wade Rogers and his wife Tracy of Meridian, Sacia Gordman and her husband Jack of Columbus, MS and Amy Poole of Bailey, MS; great-grandchildren, Amanda Kay and Brianna Rogers, Drake and Jala Ree Gordman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Bessie Rogers; an infant daughter; daughter-in-law, Brenda Rogers; sister, Lucille Wilson; and brothers, Burt, Herman and Howard Rogers. Pallbearers will be Ken Covington, Billy Guin, Mike Guin, Zena Limerick, Stanley Lucky and Mike Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Bailey Volunteer Fire Department, Chuck Harmon, Jerry Daniels, Charles Haguewood, Jerry Covington, Leon Bailey and Doc Wilson.
