Myrtle Alexander Irby

Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Alexander Irby will begin at 2:00pm Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with the Reverend Wayne Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Chunky Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Irby, 96, of Chunky, MS passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020 at her residence.

Mrs. Myrtle was a retired registered nurse with a nursing career that spanned 50 years, retiring at age 86. A graduate of Hickory High School and Meridian Junior College with a degree in nursing. She worked in various capacities of nursing and at the time of her retirement was night supervisor at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Jackson where she was presented a certificate of appreciation for her dedication and caring heart.

Mrs. Myrtle is survived by her children, Carla Shirley (Roger), Bobby Carpenter (Mary), and Billy C. Ferguson. Grandchildren, Curtis Ferguson, Jr., Brandy Joyner (Keith), Tammy Green (Hope), Billy C. Ferguson, Jr. (Crystal), Ben Shirley (Charrisa), Myleia Holifield (Steven), Julie Hamner (Ken), Cully Carpenter (Dawn), Delana Horn (George), Trey Tradwell, Brandi Smith, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Myrtle is preceded in death by her husbands, Jesse Ferguson and Ben Carpenter; son, Curtis A. Ferguson; mother, Leona Peavy Alexander, Father, Melton M. Alexander, sister, Ruth Dean, Sister, Ethel Cain; brother, Ernest Alexander; brother, Lonnie Alexander. Grandparents, Matthew and Lizzie Alexander and John and Caroline Peavy.

Pallbearers will be Ben Shirley, Billy Ferguson, Cully Carpenter, Ken Hamner, Justin Joyner, and Steven Holifield.
