Nadia Edgerton Morris

Funeral services for Mrs. Nadia Goodloe Edgerton Morris will be held Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Katie Sorey officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Morris, age 93, of Meridian died Saturday, May 18, 2024, in Ridgeland, Mississippi.

A native of Opelousas, Louisiana and Lake Charles, Louisiana, Nadia was the daughter of Edwin Henry Goodloe and Geraldine Brown Goodloe. She graduated from Lake Charles High School and attended Louisiana State University , where she was a member of Alpha Iota Pi sorority, where she was awarded several honors. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics in 1951, Nadia married Alvin Thomas Edgerton, Jr. and made her home in Meridian. After the untimely death of Mr. Edgerton, she was remarried to Thomas Arthur Morris, Jr., a native of Selma, Alabama.

A loving mother, Nadia was an active member of The Episcopal Church of the Mediator for 67 years where she was the second woman to serve on the Vestry. She was also Co-Chair of the first Mediator bar-be-que, a popular and lasting tradition of the church. She was a member of the Meridian Junior Auxiliary, where she served as President. She was also a member and active supporter of the Meridian Little Theater.

She is survived by her sons, Richard Edgerton (Cornelia) and Michael Edgerton (Shazowee), all of Madison, Mississippi; grandchildren, Tom Edgerton (Anne) of Lima, Ohio, and Seena Edgerton of Littleton, Colorado; and three great-grandchildren; Max, Maeve and Margot and sister-in-law Janet Edgerton Chalk and family. She is also survived by her stepson, Thomas Morris, III (Dawn) of Selma, Alabama; stepdaughters, Muffet Garcia of Longview, Texas and Karen Burgess (Jerry) of Birmingham, Alabama, and their extended families.

She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Alvin Thomas Edgerton, Jr.; her second husband, Thomas Arthur Morris, Jr.; her son, Alvin Thomas Edgerton, III; her brother, Edwin Goodloe; her sister, Geraldine Humphreys, and stepson-in-law, Jim Garcia.

Pallbearers will be Tom Edgerton, Duncan Chalk, Jr., Franklin Chalk, Jr., John Chalk III, Jason Lane, and John Jackson.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM -10:45 AM at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions are shared with The Church of the Mediator or your favorite charity.
