Nancy “Grammy” Leach , 92, of Lauderdale, passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Saturday, May 9, 2026.
Born in St. Louis, Nancy lived a life rooted in faith, family, music, and service to others. She was the beloved wife to the late Howard E. Leach for over 63 years. She faithfully supported him throughout his Navy career, lovingly making a home for their family at each station along the way. While at NAS Meridian, Nancy served as secretary to the Officer in Charge at The Branch Medical Clinic for over 30 years.
Nancy was a conservatory trained pianist whose gift for music became a ministry throughout her life. At every church home the family joined, she faithfully served by playing the piano and sharing her love of worship through music. She also brought comfort and joy to many by playing in churches, assisted living homes, and community gatherings. Her greatest joy was passing that love of music along to her children, grandchildren, and great grand grandchildren, teaching them not only to play the piano, but how to appreciate it’s beauty and blessing.
A devoted Christian woman, Nancy dedicated countless years to teaching Sunday School classes of every age group, from small children to senior adults, always sharing God’s Word with gentleness, wisdom, and grace. Her quiet faith, servant’s heart, and love of teaching God’s Word touched many lives over the years. Nancy enjoyed reading, sewing, playing piano, and most of all, spending time with the family she treasured deeply.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Privett (Mike), Ken Leach (Peggy), Karon Leach, and Jay Leach (Stephanie); she also leaves behind three siblings; 12 beloved grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren, along with many more extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
Though her family grieves her earthly absence, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life and take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved Howard and resting in the arms of her Savior.
Grammy’s life was a beautiful testimony of faithfulness, graciousness, and enduring love. Her legacy will continue for generations to come.
The Leach Family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made as donations to your church music ministry, the Gideons International or the Baptist Medical Dental Missions International (BMDMI).
