Norma Burnside Davis

Funeral services for Mrs. Norma Burnside Davis will begin at 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with the Reverends Rick Green and Wayne Smith officiating. Service Music will be provided by Mr. Greer Goldman and Rev. Wayne Smith. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Davis, 92, of Meridian, died Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Bedford Care Center in Marion.

Norma loved her Lord more than anything. She loved her husband and family dearly and always held them close to her heart.  She never missed an opportunity to share the Gospel with everyone she met. She also taught Middle School Sunday School class for years, as well as volunteering at Wesley House. She was a long-time member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church; she was a known prayer warrior for many years, and was a member of the Monday Ladies Prayer group. Norma had a passion for serving on the International Mission Field, sharing the gospel to countless people across the world. She was a remarkable cook and was renowned for her peanut brittle and cinnamon rolls. In her spare time, she also enjoyed reading, and writing God inspired poetry. Her poems were compiled into three books.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her children, Debbie Compton (David) of Meridian, MS , Lou Ellen Glafenhein (Glen) of Knoxville, TN, Kay Koch (John) of Williamsburg, VA, Dwain Davis (Mary) of Collinsville, MS and Douglas Davis (Melanie) of Bailey, MS. Grandchildren, Matthew Compton (Emily) of Baltimore, MD, Elizabeth Holloway (Brett), of Oakland, TN, Joseph Koch (Janae), of Aldie, VA, Anna Kathryn Koch, of Richmond, VA, Aaron Glafenhein (Elaine), Wil Davis Glafenhein (Devon), John Glafenhein, Christopher Glafenhein, and Caroline Owens (Tyler), all of Knoxville, TN, Hallie Neal (Dylan), of Brandon, MS, Katie Knight (Jeff), of Metairie, LA, Daniel Davis, of Collinsville, MS, Brooke Davis, of Hattiesburg, MS, Emily Davis, of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Kayla Davis, of Bailey, MS; Great-grandchildren, David Prentiss Compton, Margot, Maddie Clark, and Millie Holloway; Charis, Sarah, Isaac, Lukas, Titus, Kate, and Esther Glafenhein; Tylee and Zion Owens; Emma Kay and Caleb Koch; Hugh and Mary Todd Neal. Her sister, Patsy Patrick, of Birmingham, AL; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mrs. Norma is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jerrel Davis; her parents, Houston and Katie Burnside; and her ten siblings, Evelyn Thames, Ethel Burnside, Ann Burnside, Hoke Burnside, Carter Burnside, Elaine Parrish, Kathleen Davis, Tom Burnside, Claudette Blanton, and Felton Bullock.

The Davis Family suggests memorials be made as donations to 15th Avenue Baptist Church Lottie Moon Christmas offering in lieu of flowers.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters.
