Ms. Morton, age 87, of Meridian passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019 at her residence.
Janelle was a retired cosmetologist. She worked for many years at J.C. Penney and had a shop at her house after retirement. Her clients were loved like family. Janelle was a member of Salem Baptist Church and after marrying, she became a member of East End United Methodist Church. After East End closed, she joined Poplar Springs United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed serving as a greeter. In her earlier years, she was a girl-scout leader. Janelle was a member of the local Audubon Society, the Moose Lodge, the Red Hat Club, and The International Singing Brakeman Society. She was an artist, a lover of nature, an animal lover, she enjoyed traveling with her family, and she was a superb chef and entertainer. Janelle loved sunsets, dancing, music, picking flowers, making natural floral arrangements, and long walks in the woods. Janelle was an avid Auburn Tigers fan “WAR EAGLE!” She adored her grandchildren and always spending special time with them; she always instilled in them her knowledge of The Lord and how to live your best life and to enjoy the smaller things. She will be affectionately remembered as “MiMi/MeMe” by her grandchildren and “Puddin’” by her friends and family.
Janelle was an honest person, sometimes to a fault. She had a great sense of humor and sharp wit. Janelle never met a stranger and exemplified kindness and a good nature. She was totally devoted to her family, still teaching her children and grandchildren how to do everything “the right way.” At the end of each day, she would say “bye-bye sun” and passed that down to her children and all of her grandchildren.
Janelle was preceded in death by the father of her children, Winfred H. Morton, Jr.; her son-in-law, Jimmy Taylor; her mother, Mildred Ingram Pickard; her father, Barney Pickard; and her brother, Bobby Ray Pickard.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Jenny Lynn Taylor, Tina Marie Sexton (Jimmy), and Barbara Gay Tadlock (Danny); her grandchildren, Lauren Olivia Taylor, Jet Tyler Sexton, Kayli Michelle Sexton, Harley Dylan Sexton, William Barry Tadlock (Macy), Brock Allen Tadlock, and Branson Blake Tadlock; great-grandchildren, Angelina Marie Sexton and Jaxson Clyde Tadlock; her best friend and first cousin, Betty Lynn Wheeler (Joe); her sister-in-law, Myrna Pickard; her nephew, Bobby Dale Pickard (Stephanie); and numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends.
If desired, donations can be made to the American Humane Society or to the World Wildlife Fund.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
