NORMAN BRENT JACKSON Services for Brent Jackson will be held at Pine Grove Church in the Martin community on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Jack Giles, Brother Tommy Espey, and Brother Kenny Pogue officiating, with graveside officiating by Les Moore. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 5:00p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in Meridian. There will be a short visitation 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. Mr. Jackson, age 71, of the Martin community passed away Sunday, December 14th at Rush Hospital in Meridian. He was a wonderful husband who loved his wife sacrificially, according to the Word of God. He was a faithful and Godly Daddy, a proud Pop, an ordained minister, mentor, coach and educator, counselor, and patriot. His military service began in 1963 and included 6+ years of service in the U.S. Army, with Special Forces training with the Green Berets, and including 3+ years with his beloved 82nd Airborne Division where he served in combat in Santa Domingo. Until his passing, he was AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY. He served in Korea with 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry, and at Fort Lewis Washington with the 9th Infantry Division. He joined the Mississippi Air National Guard in 1978 and served with the 186th in Intelligence until 2003. He served a total of 33+ years for his country with dedication, earning numerous citations and awards. His civilian career included 29+ years at East Mississippi State Hospital, and coaching football and teaching at many area schools over 11+ years, where he loved his students, and they loved him dearly. He is survived by his wife Donna Herrington Jackson; son Michael Brent Jackson and his wife Mandy; daughter Ashley Bunyard and her husband Jeremy; grandchildren Matthew Brent and Leah Jackson, and Jackson, Jonathan, and Jolee Bunyard; his brother Joseph K. "Joe" Jackson and wife Linda; three brothers in law, their wives, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Delmon Jackson and mother Christine Freeman Jackson. The family requests memorials be made to Pine Grove Church Missions fund. Pallbearers will be Mark Craven, Jim Ford, Wayne Culpepper, Frankie Hoffer, Jeremy Pogue, Hal Herrington, Bernie Herrington, and Tony Herrington.
