Olive Catherine Dease Meaders Funeral services for Olive Meaders will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Howse, Reverend Gerald Chaney, and Reverend David Sellers officiating. Burial will be at Hickory Cemetery. Mrs. Meaders, age 91, born November 14, 1923 of Hickory, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015. She was a lifetime member of Hickory United Methodist Church. She was the social ambassador of Hickory and all its happenings hence her column that she was the author of called "Hickory Happenings" for 50+ years. She was the matriarch of seven children, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren and the community of Hickory which was "the little town with the big heart." Survivors include her daughter, Jean Brown (Jerry) of Chunky; daughter, Emily Craven (Mark) of Collinsville; grandchildren, Butch Meaders, Jr. (Tammy), Kristy Cleveland (Scott), Brent Brown, Rodney Meaders, Laurie Price, Jennie Bobo (Brook), and Rick Hasselle, Jr. (Claire); great-grandchildren, Christopher Meaders (Madison), Kayla Terrell (Todd), Drew Needle, Cody Needle, Blake Howell (Autumn), Hayley Smith, Sydney Battle, Axl Battle, Will Bobo, Katie Hasselle, Gibson Hasselle, and Michael Hasselle; great-great grandchildren, Ollie Meaders, Landry Terrell, and two expecting; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Meaders, Jr.; daughter, Babette Meaders ; son, Michael Meaders; son, Greg Meaders; son, Butch Meaders, Sr.; daughter, Anna Battle and husband, Ronnie; grandchildren, Richie Brown and Kevin Battle; great-grandchildren, William Hasselle and Ben Hasselle; parents, Oliver and Georgia Dease; and sisters, Dorothy Coleman and Winnie Gay. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Hickory Volunteer Fire Department, 360 West College Street, Hickory, MS 39332.
