Services for Opal Moore Mitchell will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church, with Dr. Gary Blair officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Mitchell, age 97, of Meridian passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Mitchell was born in Philadelphia, MS and graduated from Laurel Hill High School in Leake County. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and Daughters of the American Revolution. She owned Mitchell New South food stores before working as a real estate agent with Winstead Realty. She is survived by her son, Gerald Mitchell and wife, Joy, of Meridian; grandchildren, Kathy Ives and husband, Preston, of Charlotte, NC, Lisa Cowart of Indianola, MS, Debba Mitchell of Meridian, Gerry Mitchell and wife, Hope, of Meridian; great grandchildren, Ellis Ives, Madeline Ives, Alison Cowart, Jackson Cowart, Eli Mitchell, and Meredith Mitchell; sister, Mazine Winstead and husband, Murray, of Philadelphia, MS; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ellis G. Mitchell; parents, William Ellis and Clarinda Ann Sikes Moore; sisters, Fannie Lee Tingle, Mary Ethridge, and Masie Winstead; brothers, Horace Moore, Cornelius Moore, Jimmy Moore, Mason Moore, and Wendell H.
