Pat Brown Barber Services for Pat Brown Barber will be held Sunday, October 23, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church with Dr. John Temple officiating. Burial will be in Chunky Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Barber, 74, of Meridian died Friday, October 21, 2011, at Zero House Personal Care Home. He was co-owner of Barber and Sons Plumbing Company. Mr. Barber served from 1989 until 2007 as the Area 5 Director of Special Olympics. He also served on the Board of Directors of MIDD. He was awarded the Meridian Junior Auxiliary Humanitarian Award in 1999. Mr. Barber was a member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a 1962 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and served in the Mississippi Army National Guard. Survivors include his wife, of fifty-one years, Dorothy "Dot" Williams Barber of Meridian; daughter Patricia Barber McCarty and husband Randy of Madison, Mississippi and Julie Barber Bordelon of Meridian; grandchildren Erin Daye McCarty, Gage Garrett McCarty and Catherine Elizabeth Bordelon; brother Langdon Albert Barber of Chunky and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank his special caregivers: Veronica Anderson, Demetrice Taylor, Mabel Terrell and Delcia Ross He was preceded in death by his parents Albert Brown Barber and Reitha Gilbert Barber.
