Pat was born on February 7, 1925, in Memphis, Tennessee to the late William L. Barfield and Ruth S. Harrell. She was graduated from Central High School in Memphis. Soon after graduation, she was introduced to a handsome young man who was in flight school in Germantown, Tennessee. After a three month courtship, they married and spent 63 years together, settling in Snooky's hometown of Meridian, after WWII. Pat was an active member of the Junior Auxiliary, serving as President in 1956, and was Queen of the Mardi Gras Ball in 1966. She was a charter member of the Twentieth Century Heritage (Garden) Club, served as Treasurer of the Lauderdale County Heart Association, was Phi Kappa Fraternity "Mom", and volunteered as scorekeeper at the July 4th golf tournaments at Northwood for many years. She was an avid bridge player until shortly before her death. She enjoyed playing dominoes with good friends, and having Friday night dinners with the "Whiskey Widows" at Northwood. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Scott (Joe) of Jackson, and Carole Graves (Rod) of Florence, Alabama; grandchildren, Clay Scott, Caroline S. Nowell (Jack), Maurie G. Shaw (Billy), Elizabeth G. Hughs (Jason), Lillie G. Lucius (Charlie), Richard Pigford (Cammy), Laurie P. Brock (Jeremy); sisters-in-law, Dixie G. Pigford, Hazel P. Harper of Meridian, and Helen P. Kirk of Greenville; as well as seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice A. "Snooky" Pigford, and her son, Richard A. Pigford (Fan). Scott and Rod Graves; Clay Scott, Richard Pigford, Jack Nowell, Billy Shaw, Charlie Lucius, Jason Hughs, Jeremy Brock, and Michael Harper. We would especially like to thank Dr. Dave Russell for his many years of care, and Mary Ann Jones, who was her sitter and friend.
