Patty Evelyn Callihan Roberts

Graveside services for Mrs. Patty Evelyn Callihan Roberts will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2020 with Reverend Dr. Joe Anderson officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites in the Roberts Family Cemetery, located at 1019 Lee Roberts Road South, Meridian, MS 39301. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Patty Roberts, age 87, of Meridian, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, July 24, 2020.

Patty was from Batesville, MS. She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in the second nursing class at Ole Miss and went on staff at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in 1956. She later became the Director of the Surgical Services and was very instrumental in starting the Cardiovascular Surgical Unit, as well as many other positions within her department. She dedicated her whole career to Anderson Hospital, which she loved dearly, and had a deep passion for nursing. She loved all of the many doctors, nurses, and surgical technologists that she encountered during her time at Anderson’s. She also enjoyed opening her home to a multitude of family and friends, where she was often found in the kitchen cooking. It was not unusual for her to feed an entire shift of law enforcement officers while they were on duty, no matter what time of day. Most of all, Patty had a deep, unfailing love for her family.

Patty is survived by her children, Lee C. Roberts, Jr. (Christy), Buck Roberts (Spunky), Ricky Roberts (Cynthia), Alesha “Sissy” Moore (Mike); brother, Bob Callihan of Batesville, MS; sister-in-law, Clyde Callihan of Oakland, MS; brother-in-law, Tony Hubbard of Pope, MS; sister-in-law, Susan (Roberts) Jordan; 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee C. Roberts Sr.; parents HL and Evelyn Louise Callihan; sister, Nell Callihan Hubbard, and brother, Mike Callihan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Roberts, Daniel Roberts, Dylan Roberts, Karl “Dippy” Motley, Jr., Phillip Moore, JT Roberts, and Tommie Coker. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul David Hatcher, RP Robinson, Mike Moore, Dr. Dan Marascalco, Dr. Lee Thorton, Paul Singley, Jimmy Sanders, Lewis Robbins, Kerry Ward, Clayton Cobler, John Anderson, Jeff Lewis, Ty Hubbard, Mark Lindley, Past and Present Doctors, Nurses, and Surgical Staff, and Karl Motley, Sr.

The Roberts Family will receive guests through a drive through visitation from 3-5 p.m. on Roberts property prior to services on Friday, July 31, 2020.
