Peggy Jean Watkins Cumberland

Services for Peggy Jean Watkins Cumberland will be held Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Lauderdale United Methodist Church with the Rev. Davey Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be at Lauderdale Springs Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Cumberland, 81, of Lauderdale, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. She was a member of Lauderdale United Methodist Church. She worked many years alongside her late husband at the family-owned Cumberland General Merchandise at Lauderdale until they both retired to enjoy family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Mike Cumberland (Renee) of Lauderdale, and Gary Cumberland (Kaye) of Flora; brother, Billy Watkins (Glenda) of Meridian; sister-in-law, Jennie Watkins of Meridian; grandchildren, Ashley Johnson, Ana Lisa Cumberland, Luke Cumberland, Jacob Cumberland, Jon Isaac Cumberland, Courtney Anderson, Hailey Turner and Steven Cumberland; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Clelon Cumberland; son, Keith Cumberland; grandson, Justin Steven Cumberland; parents, Chester Clay and Annie Bateman Watkins; and siblings, Virgil Watkins and Dorothy Watkins Jones.
