Funeral services for Ms. Peggy Torrance will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Blair officiating. Burial will be held at Magnolia Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Ms. Torrance, 95, of Meridian, passed away October 11 at her residence.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She worked for Burnley’s Shirt Factory for many years before becoming a Union District representative for the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America from which she retired. She was proud member of the Eastern Star and the East Mississippi Labor Association. She was an active supporter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Ms. Torrance was one of the first women to actively fight for women’s rights. During her life she traveled to Washington D.C. repeatedly to National Conventions and to meet with representatives to fight for American’s rights to organize.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 13, 2017, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 14, 2017, from 12:30-1:30 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
