Services for Pennie Marie Strickland Dempsey will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, October 11, 2024, at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend James Ruffin will be officiating, Michael Gibson will be singing, and Stroud Corr will be delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Butler, AL. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Pennie Dempsey, age 99, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024. She was born on June 24, 1925, to Beulah Ann Fluker and Albert Walton Strickland, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margaret Strickland Steinwinder; brother, Albert Walton Strickland, Jr.; husband, Mike Dempsey, and son-in-law, Mike Ware.
She is survived by her three loving daughters, Donna Corr (Van), Kathrena Ware, and Susan White (Charlie); seven grandchildren, Stroud Corr, Benjamin Ware (Shannon), Brooks Corr (Amy), Dustin Ware, Adam White (Val), Erin Schoeneck (Kyle), and Lauren Amundson (Dustin); eleven great-grandchildren, Elsie Ware, Scarlet Schoeneck, Maisie Ware, Dempsey Corr, Leif Schoeneck, Ann Dozier Corr, Cromwell Corr, Forest Schoeneck, Hudson Amundson, Finn White, and Olivia Amundson.
Pennie was active with the Lauderdale County Forestry Association. She managed her timber business until she passed away. She was a long-standing member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Ware, Brooks Corr, Adam White, Dustin Ware, Kyle Schoeneck, and Dustin Amundson.
